Mark Hamill was absent from a recent appearance to promote Star Wars: The Force Awakens but for a good reason. Instead of attending the promotional event, Hamill went to visit sick children at a British hospital.
Hamill posted a picture of his visit on his official Twitter account.
Thanks for the check-up Oscar! And to @GreatOrmondSt for inviting me. Happy Holidays to all the boys&girls. Love,mh pic.twitter.com/yD7TDjjvJh

The rest of the Force Awakens cast was filming a spot for The Graham Norton Show, but instead Hamill wanted to visit the hospital. During an interview with the Independent he said,
"Star Wars movies are meant to be a couple of hours of diversion from reality, and we need that," Hamill said during a an interview with the Independent. "They are optimistic and hopeful stories. But in comparison to what we can do with this [the hospital], last night [the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens] is very trivial.”
Carrie Fisher and John Boyega both recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show to speak about their experience on such a secretive project.
Hamill has had a very busy December. Along with helping to launch Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which continues to break records worldwide, he was a part of many charitable actions. He wore a stormtrooper outfit and did interviews with Los Angeles fans in order to raise awareness for the Omaze charity effort, which included a contest for a trip to the the premiere of The Force Awakens.
