Brandon Phillips reportedly traded to Washington Nationals by Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds reportedly agreed to trade second baseman Brandon Phillips to the Washington Nationals Thursday night.

The Reds will get several minor league players from the Nationals in the trade. The deal is pending approval from Phillips. Phillips has no-trade rights as a 10-and-5 player, 10 years in the majors and five with the same team and can turn down any deal, according to USA Today. He hinted that he has accepted the deal when he tweeted 513 to the 202. 513 is the area code for Cincinnati and 202 is the area code for Washington.

The infielder signed a six-year, $72.5 million contract with the Reds in 2012. He is scheduled to make $13 million next year and $14 million in 2017.

This year he hit .294 with 12 homeruns, 23 stolen bases, and a .723 OPS, according to ESPN. Phillips is a three-time All-Star and has a .273 average and has won four Gold Gloves in his 14 seasons in the majors.

The trade would reunite Phillips with his former manager Dusty Baker. The addition would also mean that the Nationals would likely have Danny Espinosa or rookie Trea Turner at shortstop and Anthony Rendon would go back to third base.
