'Alien: Covenant' will include every version of the Xenomorph, says Ridley Scott

Although we had heard the new Alien movie wouldn't actually have any Xenomorphs, Ridley Scott is now saying it will in fact have every possible version of the famous creatures.

In an interview with The Wrap, Scott said Alien: Covenant features Xenomorphs from every stage in its life cycle.

"We’ll have them all: egg, face-hugger, chest-burster, then the big boy," Scott said.

This is a complete reversal from his quote last year when he said the movie would not feature any Xenomorphs at all and in fact it would revolve around a completely new alien. However, that was back when this project was known as Prometheus 2 and it sounds like it has slowly developed into more of an Alien movie since then.

In the interview, Scott even corrected the journalist calling the movie a Prometheus sequel by saying, "Well, really it's Alien."

Covenant will follow the crew of a colony ship who discovers what they believe to be an uncharted paradise, but it turns out to be a dangerous world whose only inhabitant is the synthetic David (Michael Fassbender). Though Noomi Rapace is expected to reprise her role from Prometheus, it's unclear how she factors into this movie.

Alien: Covenant will hit theaters in 2017.
