‘Star Wars’ lands a PG-13 rating

News continues to flow from Hollywood every single day, and the latest should be no surprise.

According to Variety, 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will be rated PG-13. The seventh installment in the 'Star Wars' franchise becomes the second movie to be rated PG-13. It joins the latest film, 'Revenge of the Sith' which came out in 2005.

The film itself is expected to break all sorts of box office records when it comes on next month on the 18th. As we previously reported, the film has already made $50 million a month before its release.

This movie is something fans have been anticipating for years and one people never thought would happen. This rating shouldn’t come as a surprise as most of JJ Abrams's films have the same rating. With the way films are made today, PG-13 is a typical rating for a movie like this.

The rating is PG-13 for “sci-fi violence” and that is to be expected in the most successful sci-fi franchise of all time. One may argue that 'Star Trek' is the most successful, but when Abrams rebooted that franchise, it did not have as much hype as 'Star Wars.'

Thy hype is so huge that Jimmy Kimmel described it as “the most anticipated sequel I think since the New Testament.” If you ask any die hard fan, they would have to agree with that.
