Leah Remini has already dropped a lot of bombshells about Scientology in the interviews leading up her memoir release, but the book reveals a lot as well. In one part of the book, she wrote about Tom Cruise’s ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, and her relationship with their children.
Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology recounts Remini’s curiosity in why Bella and Connor Cruise didn’t have a relationship with Kidman. Remini wrote she had watched the “children grow up” within the church and “always wondered why they didn't have a relationship with their mom,” via an excerpt from Us Weekly.
“But I could never ask them, because there was always someone else around," she continued. "Driving to the airport alone with them, I had my chance."
"'Hey, guys. How's your mom? Do you see her a lot?'" Remini remembers asking them, to which Bella replied,"'Not if I have a choice. Our mom is a f--king SP.’”In Scientology, SP stands for a Suppressed Person – basically someone the church deems an enemy.
When Remini said she reminded them Kidman is still their mom, "Bella scoffed and said, 'Well, she is.’ Connor just looked out the window. There was something human about his silence and the sadness I felt in it."
Cruise and Kidman split in 2001 and in the documentary Going Clear, former church member, Mark “Marty” Rathbun, revealed the church never approved of the actress and even tapped her phones.
