‘How to Get Away with Murder’ Recap: ‘I Want You to Die’

On this week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder, Annalise’s students try to find more information about Philip, Frank enlists Oliver’s help on the case, and Annalise reunites with Eve.

Michaela fights with Connor. He’s headed out and Michaela has initial reservations about accompanying him. Laurel and Wes overhear from another room. They need to stop Michaela and Connor from what they’re about to do. Another shot reveals a gun in Wes’ hand.

In the present, Wes finds the same gun on his bedroom floor while getting ready and recalls a conversation with Levi via flashback.

Later, in class, Annalise teaches her students how to profile killers. After class, the group uses what they’ve learned to determine why Philip might have killed Caleb and Catherine’s adoptive parents.

Meanwhile, Nate packs up the last of Nia’s things at the hospital and is served papers. The judge wants to rule Nia’s death as foul play and needs permission to obtain a blood sample.

Back at the Keating house, Frank asks Annalise if she had any involvement in Nia’s death, though Annalise insists she didn’t. The only way to make their current mess disappear is to kill the D.A., or so Annalise claims.

Annalise visits Eve and Nate is also there. They discuss Nia’s death. Since Nia had Stage IV cancer for over a year, the plan is to convince the court she died of natural causes and the D.A. simply has a vendetta against Nate because of his ties to Annalise.

Asher and Bonnie share a tense conversation. Bonnie knows about the gang rape, but Asher says he wasn’t involved. It was the other guys at his house party.

Annalise meets with her client, a man who sent sexts between his ex-wife and her new husband to their entire church congregation. The action went too far, driving the man to suicide. Annalise’s attempts at negotiation fall through and the case is sent to trial.

While in court, Annalise crosses paths with the D.A. and threatens her. Later, Annalise catches Laurel and Frank making out. She arrived home early, because she needed more evidence before trial. Annalise must prove that victim committed suicide, but for other reasons.

Laurel and Asher interview their client to gain more information and he reveals that the victim in the case was an alcoholic and attended weekly AA meetings. Since AA protects the identities of its attendees, Annalise tells her students she must get the victim’s wife to admit his addiction while on the stand.

Annalise intimidates the victim’s wife on the stand and is taken aback when posthumous testimony using 911 tapes are played. Left to regroup, Annalise instructs her students to help her find something useable.

Connor teases Michaela about Caleb and is unhappy when Frank enlists Oliver’s help in finding Philip.

Eve orders Annalise and Nate to keep their distance from each other. Later, Annalise and Eve talk and Eve jokes about throwing the hearing so they can run away together.

Asher’s attempts to smooth things over with Bonnie aren’t well received.

Connor wants Oliver to back out of the case, but Oliver says he’s going to stay and help.

Annalise re-assigns Wes to Nate’s case to “conduct research for class.”

Back at the Keating house, Michaela discovers DNA located at the Hapstall mansion that doesn’t match anyone who lived or worked there. In addition, there's evidence to suggest that Philip lives two miles away from the Hapstall mansion and was in town the night of the murder.

Oliver finally meets Annalise and Annalise thanks him for continually helping her students out.

The D.A. puts a nurse on the stand and things go awry. Eve doesn’t cross-examine her or call a second witness. Nate loses, which means Nia’s blood will be tested.

Annalise meets Eve for dinner and asks if she threw the case on purpose. Eve maintains she didn’t.

The group sees a video of Asher from the night of Tiffany’s rape, which angers Bonnie. Meanwhile, Laurel asks Oliver to help her learn more about the prosecutor on their case. As it turns out, he and the victim’s wife are sleeping together. The doorman tips them off.

When Annalise puts the prosecutor on the stand to confirm this, he invokes his fifth-amendment rights against self-incrimination.

Following court, Laurel accuses Annalise of being hard on her, because she doesn’t approve of her and Frank’s relationship.

Eve ignores a call from Annalise while with Nate, which prompts the both of them to discuss their feelings about her. Following their conversation, Nate visits the nurse who testified at the hospital.

Nia’s blood panel comes back clean and Wes figures out that Eve had the results altered.

Asher makes one last-ditch effort to get through to Bonnie and accidentally lets on about the video Annalise showed him. Annalise and Eve celebrate Eve’s victory in court.

Oliver plans to meet up with Philip through a dating site. He posed as Connor and asked Philip out to coffee. There’s disagreement between Oliver and Connor over whether or not they should actually follow through on this.

Annalise returns home to a drunk Bonnie who is upset that Annalise divulged her personal history to Asher.

Laurel, Michaela, and Frank stake out the date with Philip. Connor is the decoy. Laurel panics and calls Annalise to tattle, so Frank shuts things down.

Oliver heads back to his apartment, where Philip shows up instead.

Wes hides a gun in his drawer.

In the present, Wes and Laurel catch up with Michaela and Connor to stop them and the D.A. gets shot. Bonnie is also there.

How to Get Away with Murder airs every Thursday at 10 p.m. on ABC.
