Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade continues to move up the scoring charts.
Wade, who began Saturday night No. 51 on the NBA all-time list, finished at No. 49 after passing Dale Ellis (19,004) and Reggie Theus (19,015). Wade made a free throw with 3:10 left in the second quarter of Miami's 96-91 win over Philadelphia on Saturday night that gave the perennial All-Star guard 19,005 points for his career, reported the Associated Press.
Wade now has 19,017 career points after finishing the game with 27 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
In his 13-year career, Wade has proven to be a prolific scorer and superstar. Only eight active players have more points than Wade, and his career average of 24.0 points per game ranks fifth among active players.
“I don't think about it, but I'm aware of it because I've been able to do a couple of interviews after the game,” Wade said via the Sun Sentinel. “There's certain moments where when I pass Isiah [Thomas] or when I pass Scottie [Pippen], those were kind of 'pinch-me' moments. ... I don't number watch.”
For his part, Wade was quickly to remain humble while acknowledging his scoring prowess and all-around game.
“I've always tried to score. I love scoring. I've always tried to make my teammates better,” Wade said. “I've always tried to be able to rebound the ball, blocked shots or get steals. I've always tried to be a complete player. It's all humbling to be able to be on any list with any greats.”
Should Wade remain relatively healthy this season, he’ll have a chance to move into top 40 on the all-time scoring list, past Antawn Jamison (20,042).
