Chris Rock is denying he’s the father of a 7-year-old South African girl who lived with his family since she was 6 months old, on the basis that he never officially adopted her and the process was handled by his estranged wife Malaak Compton.
Rock and his ex split in Dec. 2014 after 19 years of marriage. They have two biological daughters; Lola, 13, and Zahra, 11, and Ntombi moved in with them in 2008. She was often photographed with the Rock family at public outings like basketball games and movie premieres, as recently as last year.
According to TMZ, it’s unclear why Ntombi started living with the Rocks in the U.S. Her parents are both alive and live in South Africa.
Ntombi has a B2 “visitor for pleasure” visa, which is good for a year. She went back to South Africa each year and filled out paperwork to renew the visa, but never got legally adopted by the famous family.
Rock’s rep denied to TMZ that Ntombi is his adopted daughter and he has reportedly not seen her since his split from his wife one year ago. Since there was no legal adoption, South African officials have opened an investigation into why Ntombi has been in the U.S. for so long and even enrolled in a New Jersey school.
Sources say Rock is distancing himself from Ntombi because he thinks his ex might've done something illegal to keep the young girl in the States.
