'Charlie Hebdo' Editor's book to be published posthumously

Former Charlie Hebdo editor-in-chief's book is to be published, for the first time, in North America in 2016.

The book was written by Stephane Charbonnier (Charb) who was killed in the Jan. 7 shooting of the Charlie Hebdo office building. Charbonnier had joined the Charlie Hebdo staff in 1992, and had been it's editor-in-chief since 2009, via Time.

It was shortly after Charbonnier's murder that a completed book was discovered among his possessions. The book, Open Letter: On Blasphemy, Islamophobia and the True Enemies of Free Expression, is about free speech, and will be published, in English, but Little, Brown, and Company in January 2016. The company bought the rights for the book from French publisher Les Echappes, which published a French edition earlier this year.

"Freedom of speech is the foundation of our business, and Stephane Charbonnier was one of free speech's greatest proponents. We're proud to publish this vital book," according to the LA Times says Michael Pietch, a chief executive of Hachette Book Group.
