Buffalo Bills placed wide receiver Percy Harvin on season-ending injured reserve after his knee injury flared up.
The move ends Harvin’s season and could end his career with the Bills. Harvin signed a three-year deal with the Bills in March. The final two seasons on his deal would be voided if he’s on the Bills roster five days after the Super Bowl since the Bills are close to the salary cap, according to ESPN. He is scheduled to become a free agent in 2016, but Bills coach Rex Ryan believes that he wants to continue playing.
"He's in the building, I think," Ryan said at a news conference on Monday. "He's obviously in the training room a little today. We'll see how it goes, but I know he wants to play and wants to contribute to this team."
Harvin hasn’t played since October 11 due to his knee injury and has had hip soreness since training camp. He hasn’t played a full 16 game season since 2011 because of injuries. This season Harvin has 19 catches for 218 yards and one touchdown, according to NFL.com.
The Bills have activated cornerback Leodis McKelvin from the reserve/non-football injury list to fill Harvin’s spot on the roster.
