Brad Pitt and Warner Brothers are teaming up with Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment to bring a recently published science fiction novel to the big screen.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Pitt is set to produce the Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff novel Illuminae. The book recently hit the shelves all across the country in October and the reviews have been nothing but positive.
The plot revolves around a hacker and her ex-boyfriend, who is a pilot. Set in the year 2575, it tells their story in the midst of two rival megacorporations who are each fighting for a planet. Danger comes in the form of a plague and the hacker and pilot duo must work together to help evacuate the planet all while trying to evade an enemy warship.
The story is told through a collection of documents that had been hacked, which include interviews, maps, email, medical reports and IMs, Variety reported. This is a unique way to tell a story and the translation from book to the big screen should be an interesting one.
Right now the project is still in the pre-production stage and is currently looking for writers to pen the script. Expect more news to come out soon.
