It’s that time of year again where American travelers name who they believe are the most annoying passengers to fly the friendly skies and for a second consecutive year seat kickers rank No. 1.
Expedia’s annual Airplane Etiquette Study has named those flyers as the worst with 61 percent of the votes over inattentive parents, which came in second as the most annoying with 59 percent.
Extremely talkative passengers known as “Chatty Cathy's,” also made the list as the survey found that 75 percent of travelers prefer to keep to themselves. Those with poor hygiene was another annoyance that ranked high on the list.
"With Airplane Etiquette, the survey firm does not ask Americans to supply a rationale, so we'd be speculating as to why armrest hogs have dropped down the list," Sarah Gavin, Expedia's head of communication, wrote in an email. "But for us, given the number of possible behaviors onboard a flight that could be maddening, it's more of a surprise that armrest hogging was top 10 at all."
