Alabama boy reported missing 13 years ago found safe in Ohio

Over a decade ago, an Alabama mother reported her son missing after he was taken by his father and now all these years she has learned that he was found safe about 700 miles away.

FOX 8 in Cleveland reported that Julian Hernandez was reported missing in 2002 when he was just five years old from Birmingham, Alabama by Bobby Hernandez. Now, he has been located in Northeast Ohio; 13 years after his father allegedly did not drop him off at preschool like he was supposed to do. He is being charged in connection with the abduction and identity theft.

According to WVTM, the younger Hernandez, now 18, was applying for college when it was caught that his Social Security number didn’t match his name. A school counselor then learned that the teen was in the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children database and the authorities were contacted.

"I've been doing this 25 years and it’s something I've never experienced before," said Lt. Johnny Evans of Vestavia Hills police.

He added that it was wonderful to deliver the good news to his mother, who is “ecstatic” and waiting to be reunited with her son.
