Zendaya releases unretouched photos of hips in effort to help stop 'unrealistic ideals of beauty'

Zendaya was shocked to find out her photoshoot for Modeliste Magazine was photoshopped to make her hips and thighs look smaller as well as her skin tanner, so she did something about it.

Zendaya took it upon herself to post the real images side by side with the retouched images and even got the magazine to pull them down.

She wrote with the Instagram photo she posted that she was “shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated.”

“These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have," Zendaya added. "Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it. Thank you @modelistemagazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue."

Zendaya has become known for challenging beauty norms ever since calling out Giuliana Rancic for joking about her dreadlocks on Fashion Police in February. She recently got her own Barbie, which is modeled off of the Oscars look Rancic made the jokes about.
