Adam Yaunch, better known as MCA of The Beastie Boy’s died Friday, May 4, after battling cancer of the salivary grand for three years. His mother Frances said of Adam, “He was a very courageous person. He fought a long battle with cancer. He was hopeful to the very end.”
In 1986 The Beastie Boys broke through the radio with their album Licensed to Ill, creating a mixture of rap, hip-hop and punk, causing it to be the first ever “rap” album to hit number 1 on the Billboard album charts. The band consists of Michael Diamond, better known as Mike D, Adam Horovitz, Adrock and the late Adam Yaunch who was known as MCA.
