During a rare occasion, Prince William publicly talked about his late mother, Princess Diana, at the 21st anniversary dinner of Child Bereavement UK, a charity he holds dear to his heart.
Princess Diana died tragically in 1997, but she attended the launch of the Child Bereavement charity 21 years ago last month.
"My mother was determined to help those in need and she would have been immensely proud – as I am – of all that Child Bereavement UK has achieved these last 21 years," he said during his speech, GMA reports.
The charity is run by Prince George’s godmother, Julia Samuel, who was a close friend of the late Princess Diana.
"What my mother recognized back then -- and what I understand now -- is that grief is the most painful experience that any child or parent can endure," he continued.
The charity helps children dealing with the loss of a parent, and works closely with military families as well as children who have experienced a parent committing suicide or a terminally ill parent.
Kensington Palace tweeted photos of Princess Diana at the launch of the charity over two decades ago, and Prince William attending the 21st anniversary event on Thursday night.
