Orphaned sisters from South Korea find each other working in same Florida hospital

Two orphaned sisters from South Korea have found each other 40 years later, working at the same hospital in Sarasota, Fla.

Holly Hoyle O’Brien, 46, says she has searched for her long lost sister, Meagan Hughes, for years, to no avail. “But in my heart, I knew,” O’Brien told the Herald-Tribune. “I knew she was out there somewhere.”

They were both adopted by American families after being placed in orphanages when their parents died, O’Brien settling in Virginia and Hughes in New York. They never gave up their search of each other.

After being hired at the same hospital, Doctors Hospital, they quickly got to know each other and compared similarities. They were from the same town in South Korea, they both had "abandonment" listed on their birth certificates and more.

“I was like, this is too good to be true. I said we’ve got to do the DNA test, it’s the only way we’ll get the truth out of the whole thing,” said O’Brien. Low and behold, the test came back positive.

“I was trembling, I was so excited, I was ecstatic,” O’Brien continued.
