NBC ready to try again with Roseanne Barr, will star and produce new series

NBC is going to get another project with Roseanne Barr off the ground. Barr will produce and star in the new series for Universal TV.

According to Variety, Barr signed a deal with the studio to develop a new comedy. There aren’t any plot details for the new project yet, but her Roseanne's Nuts collaborator Steven Greener will co-produce.

This new series isn’t the only part of the deal, though. It also includes a guest role on some of the final episodes of The Office, reports The Wrap. Barr will star in three episodes as a talent agent to help Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) start a new career.

The news comes a year after Barr nearly made it back to network television with NBC’s Downwardly Mobile, which would have reunited her with her Roseanne co-star John Goodman. However, it never went beyond the pilot stage.

Barr is best remembered for her long-running ABC series, which ran from 1988 to 1997, which won an Emmy and three Golden Globes. She later had a talk show that ran for two years.
