On this week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder, Bonnie and Annalise try to discourage Asher from testifying, Wes and Levi discover more information about Bruno and group tensions rise at the possibility of impending jail time.
The episode opens with a woman running away from Caleb and Catherine’s mansion before the camera cuts to one last image of the D.A.’s corpse on the ground. When the camera reveals the identity of the woman, it’s Bonnie. She soon joins a worried-looking Asher and promises him everything will be over soon.
Three weeks earlier, Asher prepares for his court hearing. He was the DA’s informant, because it was believed that Annalise put a wiretap warning on her students. The court is willing to offer Asher immunity.
Flashback to Asher and Bonnie’s conversation where she admitted to killing Sam. Bonnie claims she had no other option, because a drunk Sam attempted to rape her. She also tells Asher the DA has everything wrong and he can’t help her, because everyone will be ruined.
In the present, Asher runs out of court just as he is called to the stand to testify.
Back at the Keating house, Bonnie tries to convince Annalise and Frank that Asher will keep quiet. Annalise shares that she caught Wes meeting with Nate and needs to find out what he knows.
Simultaneously, Annalise’s students wonder if she, Bonnie and Frank are discussing Sam or developments in Caleb and Catherine’s case. When Connor mentions Annalise’s threat of blackmail, he acknowledges that their lives belong to her.
Later, Annalise receives word of a meeting regarding her clients at 11 and Frank refuses to answer the group’s questions about Sam and Asher.
Asher eventually shows up, asking to speak to Bonnie alone and is instead confronted by Annalise. Annalise also tries to dissuade Asher from testifying. Asher says he needs to think.
When Asher returns to court, the DA is upset, because they lost the judge on the case. Asher tries to make up for this, saying he has more intel than he did initially; he knows who killed Sam Keating. Following this admission, Asher’s father wonders why he withheld material evidence in such a serious case and the court decides how they should proceed.
Annalise attends her meeting with the judge and the DA. A motion has been filed to include Caleb and Catherine’s deceased aunt’s testimony. Annalise was unaware of this development and wants to contest it. Her deadline is at 5.
Meanwhile, Annalise’s students drink during work hours and search for any proof that might indicate their witness’ testimony was false.
Bonnie tells Annalise and Frank she thinks Asher has bought time to delay his testimony. When they meet up later, he confirms this and asks Bonnie if the only reason she visited him the night of Sam’s death was to give herself an alibi. Bonnie tells him this was true, but she feels differently about their relationship now.
Frank informs Annalise that he’s watching Levi because Levi is watching Bruno. In addition, Levi knows Michaela.
Annalise gets upset when Michaela blows off her work to talk dirty to Levi, then disappears to do some straightening out. She visits Nate and tells him the truth about Nia.
Instead of working, Laurel and Frank sneak off how to get intimate.
When real work resumes, the group speculates about Asher and tries to locate a dashcam video that could incriminate Caleb and Catherine’s aunt.
Asher is back in court with a new deal that will guarantee his full protection. When Asher worries that his father is still in danger, he reveals he cut his own protection deal and a fight ensues. Asher thinks his dad is more worried about protecting himself than his own son.
Bonnie shows Annalise the video her students found, but it’s not enough. This video cuts off at the end, meaning her students need to find the full version.
Oliver helps Connor and Michaela hack into the police database in hopes of finding the entire video, where Connor regretfully says he might be going to jail.
Asher has drinks with the DA, who questions if he’s capable of being a good guy rather than another one of Annalise’s morally corrupt mentees.
The rest of the dashcam video is introduced in court and the judge accuses of Annalise of obtaining it illegally. Annalise insists she didn’t, but the judge still questions its origins. Further discussion will have to wait until the actual trial, which upsets Catherine.
Wes sneaks off to catch up with Levi and stake out Bruno. The plan is to subtly interrogate him, but Levi ignores this and pulls a gun on Bruno, demanding answers. Wes intervenes before Bruno is killed.
Michaela wants to know the truth from Bonnie and so do the others. After a fight breaks out, Annalise reveals that Bonnie is covering for them and Asher thinks that Bonnie killed Sam.
Bruno tells Wes and Levi that Frank called him the night of Rebecca’s death to borrow space in his storage locker.
Meanwhile, Annalise worries that Asher will crack and testify. She knows she, Bonnie, and Frank are losing their edge over her students. Bonnie and Frank reassure her that they’re working to make their problems go away. Later, Annalise asks to talk to Wes privately. Wes is upset she didn’t fill the group in on Asher sooner.
Annalise visits Nate in hopes of determining why he met with Wes. Nate tells her that Wes thinks she killed Rebecca.
Wes and Levi come clean to the others about Bruno, but the cops arrive and Levi is arrested for drug possession when they find several large bags of meth in his car. Later, the group grows angry with Wes when they check out the storage space and it proves to be a dead end.
Bonnie makes one last attempt to discourage Asher from testifying, but he ignores her. When he leaves, Bonnie calls Annalise and breaks down.
Flashbacks indicate that Frank had Bruno prepare a story in case Annalise's students found him. He also had Bruno plant the drugs in Levi’s car.
Annalise visits Asher to give him insight into who Bonnie really is.
In the present, Bonnie leaves Asher to find a bathroom. She washes away the traces of blood on her body and disposes of her soiled shirt. When she returns to her car, Asher is gone. He’s at the police station, preparing to make a statement.
End of episode.
