According to Variety, New Line is moving forward with a sequel to last year’s horror hit Annabelle with Gary Dauberman returning to write a script. The movie generated over $250 million in worldwide grosses on a $6.5 million budget so a sequel only makes sense.

The Annabelle doll made its first appearance in James Wan’s The Conjuring in 2013 and played as a secondary story to the overall film. Annabelle was popular with audiences and its own spinoff was quickly made just a year later.

John Leonetti directed the first movie but it seems like he will not be retuning for the sequel. Annabelle marks Dauberman’s first theatrical feature, though he has since scripted another project for New Line. He’ll be writing CBS Films’ Halloween horror Hellfest, which is to be directed by Neil Marshall, Tracking Board reports.

Wan produced the first Annabelle and will be returning to be involved with the second.
