During the Miss America pageant Miss Colorado, Kelley Johnson stood out when she gave an original monologue during the contest’s talent portion.

The Denver Channel notes that Johnson swapped a gown for scrubs and took the stage to talk about her talent- nursing. In her speech she described her relationship with a special patient, Joe.

On Monday’s episode of The View, Michelle Collins shared her thoughts on Miss Colorado’s performance she said, “She came in a nurses’ uniform and basically read her emails out loud and shockingly did not win. I was like that’s not a real, I swear to God it was hilarious. She helps patients with Alzheimer’s, which I know is not funny, but I swear you had to see it. Google it if you can.”

During Collins’ comments, co-host Joy Behar said, “Why does she have a doctor’s stethoscope around her neck?”

The hosts’ comments did not sit well with viewers. Nurses and others offended by the comments, took to Facebook and Twitter with the #nursesunite to defend the Colorado beauty and express their disagreement with The View

As we previously reported, Betty Cantrell from Georgia was crowned Miss America 2016.
