Sigourney Weaver joins ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot

What’s a science fiction movie without Sigourney Weaver? The answer: not a science fiction movie. Even the Ghostbusters reboot couldn’t avoid her services, especially since she starred in the original films.

Director Paul Feig confirmed the news himself on Twitter, fearing that the news would leak anyway. “Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I'll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie,” he wrote.

Weaver played Dana Barrett in the original Ghostbusters films, but she’s probably not going to be playing that role. The other members of the original Ghostbusters team have also joined, but onlyfor cameos as well. We will get to see Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray and even Ernie Hudson in the new film.

The new film was shot in Boston and stars Melissa McCathy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Lenslie Jones as the new titular ghost fighting team. Chris Hemsworth also stars as their secretary.

Sony is releasing Ghostbusters on July 22, 2016.
