While Netflix might be dropping more movies, the streaming service is adding more and more television shows every month. Today, Netflix signed deals to become the exclusive global streaming home of three new shows.
The news also comes after last month’s decision to not renew a deal with Epix, which carries movies from Viacom, Lionsgate and MGM. That move makes it quite obvious that Netflix is more interested in beefing up its roster of original movies than carrying films made by other companies.
But when it comes to TV, Netflix is more than willing to open its checkbook to add more shows.
Jane The Virgin will begin its second season on The CW in October, after earning a Golden Globe for star Gina Rodriguez. How To Get Away With Murder just kicked off its sophomore season, following Viola Davis’ big win at the Emmys.
As for Zoo, it just finished its first season on CBS and is based on the novel by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge. Colony won’t debut until January and stars Lost’s Josh Holloway.
