Melissa McCarthy's 'Michelle Darnell' gets new title

Variety reported that Universal Pictures renamed Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy from Michelle Darnelle, to The Boss. The film was originally named after McCarthy’s character but has since been changed to a more mainstream name. Not much has changed other than the title, however. The film is still planned for an April 8th release date with McCarthy, her husband Ben Falcone at the helm.

McCarthy will play a woman sent to prison after she’s caught for insider trading. Once she is released from prison she finds that getting her old life back will not be as easy as she thought. Her character will struggle to win back her old friends and colleagues after a simple apology is not enough. Entertainment Weekly interviewed Melissa McCarthy earlier this year and she said, “Michelle clawed for everything she had, and she did not do it in the most karmic way,”

McCarthy and her husband, Falcone, co-wrote the script and are producing the film using On the Day Productions as well. Kristen Bell and Peter Dinklage are also starring in the film.
