Mayim Bialik will visit father's grave before Emmy's

Actress Mayim Bialik will be making a special stop to visit the grave of her father Barry, who died in April, before she heads to the Emmys tonight.

Bialik, who currently stars as Amy Farrah Fowler on The Big Bang Theory, told People Magazine at the 67th Emmy Award Performers Nominee Reception in Los Angeles, “The Sunday in between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is the day to visit graves, so before the Emmys that’s where I’ll be. But it’s really nice because it gives perspective for everything we’re doing,” she continued. “There are things so much bigger than anything that goes on [with the Emmys].”

The 39-year-old said that she will visit her father’s grave with the rest of her family and her mother before they head to the award show.

Bialik said she is doing okay with her father’s death although it it “very hard,” and the event has changed a lot of things in her life, including the way she is dressing for the Emmys. “I’m a modest dresser in general, so it wasn’t like, ‘Do I show my breasts or not in my year of grieving? But I wanted something very understated and elegant.”

The actress is currently facing backlash from a comment she made about religion not being “trendy” in Hollywood. Bialik said she was not complaining about the situation, but felt as though she was pointing out something that society already knew.

“What I’m grateful for is a secular perspective in society that allows for all those opinions to exist,” said Bialik. “That’s what I hope true liberalism means.”
