The first U.S. trailer for director Justin Kurzel’s visceral, bloody and violent adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth is finally here.
This new trailer is a bit different from the one released in June, as it adds praise from critics who saw the film at its Cannes Film Festival premiere earlier this year. It highlights the violence and epic war scenes Kurzel brings to life. But it also shows some of the quieter moments that demand great performances from Michael Fassbender as Macbeth and Marion Cotillard as Lady Macbeth.
The script was written by Jacob Koskoff, Michael Lesslie and Todd Louiso. Elizabeth Debicki, David Thewlis, Sean Harris and Jack Reynor also star.
At the moment, Fassbender, Cotillard, Kurzel and Lesslie are working on Assassin’s Creed, which hits theaters in December 2016.
As for Macbeth, audiences will finally get to see it on Dec. 4. Hopefully it’s as good as past adaptations of The Scottish Play.
