Idris Elba trains child soldiers in first full ‘Beasts Of No Nation’ trailer (Video)

Netflix has released the first full trailer for Beasts Of No Nation, the new film from True Detective season one director Cary Fukunaga. Idris Elba stars in the movie, playing a warlord who uses children as soldiers.

While a teaser was released in July, this is the first to play up the film’s awards ambitions, since it was selected for the Venice, Toronto and Telluride festivals. The film was already screened at Venice and has earned rave reviews.

Beasts is based on Uzodinma Iweala’s novel and is told through the eyes of a child soldier, played by newcomer Abraham Attah. It will be released in limited theaters on Oct. 16, the same day it will also be available to stream on Netflix. Thanks to the limited theatrical release, it will be eligible for the Oscars, as Elba is looking for his first nomination.
