Emmy winner Andre Bauth allegedly stabs tenant

Emmy-winning producer Andre Bauth is wanted in Los Angeles for allegedly stabbing his tenant because he laughed at Bauth’s Academy Award aspirations.

Bauth, whose real name is Andre Salaman Bautista, recreated a scene reminiscent of his own film and is accused of stabbing his 23-year-old roommate Clayton Haymes on Tuesday after he and other roommates joked about Bauth’s claim that he would win five Oscars someday, Haymes told The Daily News.

“We all laughed a little bit,” Haymes said. “The next thing I know, I’m being chased by Andre with a knife he grabbed from the kitchen.” 36-year-old Bauth then allegedly chased Haymes into a roommate’s room before stabbing him in the chest and puncturing his lung. Bauth then fled the scene.

KCBS-TV reports that the Los Angeles Police Department is still searching for Bauth, who is wanted on an attempted murder charge. Colombian-born Bauth produced an indie thriller earlier this year called El Landlord, in which he plays a Mexican immigrant who moves to Hollywood and becomes a landlord. Haymes appears in the film and is eventually killed by Luis, who is played by Bauth.

“Andre never showed this kind of aggression or anger to me before,” Haymes said. “I pray that he wasn’t trying to imitate the plot of El Landlord on me.”

Bauth won a daytime Emmy award this year for his producing work on The Bay: The Series.

A police officer told the L.A. Times that Bauth may be making arrangements for a peaceful surrender. Anyone with information is asked to contact the LAPD’s North Hollywood station.
