Donald Trump did what he does best on Friday night’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, he entertained.
Donald Trump appeared on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show Friday evening, in his first late night talk show appearance since he announced his bid for the 2016 presidential election. In the interview Trump discussed apologies, Kanye 2020, and much much more. Before he could get to chatting with Fallon, we watched Trump give “himself” a pep talk in his dressing room.
“Alright me, we’ve got a big interview with Jimmy Fallon coming up. Well, let’s be honest. Fallon’s a lightweight. No way he deserves to interview me. The only one qualified to interview me is me,” Fallon said to his “reflection,” impersonating Trump. “Me interviewing me? That’s what I call a great idea,” Trump said to his “reflection.”
After poking fun at himself with the mirror bit, the GOP frontrunner took a more serious tone in his interview. According to EW when asked about Kanye 2020 Trump said, “He’s so nice to me. I love people who are nice to me. Now if he happens to run for office, and I’m running against him, I’m gonna take that back.”
Fallon asked Trump if he ever makes apologies. Unsurprisingly, Trump has not. “I think apologizing is a great thing, but you have to be wrong. I will absolutely apologize, sometime in the hopefully distant future, if I’m ever wrong,” he said.
Trump also noted that he is “blessed with a great memory,” so he doesn’t feel the need to prepare notes for himself.
Fallon asked Trump to say something nice about Carly Fiorina. “I think she’s a very nice person,” Trump said.
The CNN Reagan Library debate will take place Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
