Donald Trump talks love at first sight with Melania Trump, she 'wouldn't give' him her number at first

Donald Trump is showing potential voters a softer side by talking about his love story with his wife of 10 years, Melania Trump, in the new issue of People.

The hopeful GOP presidential candidate and the former model met in 1998 at a party and it was love at first sight for Trump but not for Melania.

"It may have been the same moment,” he told People about falling in love with her when he met her.

However, she refused to give him her number the night they met.

"I saw Melania and I said, 'Who is that?' " he remembered. "She was a very successful model. She was terrific. I tried to get her number, and she wouldn't give it to me."

She explained that her reasoning was because “He came to the party with a date!"

She added, "I had heard he was a ladies' man, and so I said, 'I'm not one of the ladies.'” When they did finally connect, though "we talked for almost the whole night,” she explained.

Trump went on to say that these days their perfect date night is staying in and Melania shared the “key” to their successful marriage.

“We have our own bathrooms,” she said, adding they watch different shows on TV as well. "We have Tivo! It's a great relationship."

The couple shares a 9-year-old son, Barron. Trump also has four children from previous marriages.
