Derrick Rose denies raping ex-girlfriend, lawyer wants case thrown out

After Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose’s attorney filed documentation asking that the sexual assault lawsuit filed against his client be thrown out, the point guard spoke Monday and denied the allegations.

ESPN noted that during the team’s media day Rose told reporters that the claims against him are false.

"I will be proven innocent," he said. "But at the same time, [the suit] hasn't affected anything. It's not true. I take it as motivation. I feel like the devil's just working. I feel like I'm on the right track as far as where I want to be at in my life and the direction I want to go. And I just feel like when you're that focused, people try to take you down, so I'm very confident that I will be proven innocent."

We previously reported that a woman said to be Rose’s former girlfriend, brought forth the suit claiming that the athlete and his friends Ryan Allen and Randall Hampton gang-raped and drugged her.

The accuser, identified as Jane Doe, claims that while she was at Rose’s Beverley Hills home in 2013 the men slipped something into her drink. According to the court docs, she then alleges that after she left his home, the three men showed up at her residence and took turns raping her. She claims that it took her so long to come forward because she was “ashamed.”

Rose contends that the acts she engaged in with the men were consensual.

As for on the court, the former MVP will undergo surgery Wednesday for a left orbital fracture he suffered during practice. It is unknown at this time how long he will be out.
