Bindi’s father, the late Steve Irwin, was the star of The Crocodile Hunter, and Bindi’s song choice paid tribute to him and her family’s business. According to People, Bindi did her jive to “Crocodile Rock” by Elton John.
“My dad like that song,” she revealed after her performance.
Bindi and her partner, Derek Hough, scored 24 out of 30 points on her dance, which ties her for first place along with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter.
The 17-year-old admitted she was nervous to debut on the show. "When I walked out there I was so scared, but I think that's a great thing. I think when you are scared it means you want to do a good job and you're on the verge of something amazing,” she shared with E! News.
Other stars on this season of the show include Victor Espinoza, Gary Busey, Andy Grammer and Chaka Kahn. Noticeably absent from the premiere of season 21 was judge Len Goodman, who announced he was leaving the show in August.
The celebrities and pros take on their second dance tonight on Dancing with the Stars at 8 on ABC.
