‘Entourage’ Blu-ray Review: Extras give access to the Hollywood crew

When Entourage debuted on HBO back in 2004, it was a surprise hit. This was a show about girls, over the top parties and celebrity cameos but it was also about four friends going through the highs and lows of fame together. The family and heartfelt aspects made this show very unique. It allowed the audience to connect with these characters and become the sixth member of this unforgettable Hollywood crew.

Entourage was a movie made for the fans of the show. Now the blu-ray release of this film takes that interaction and fandom to another level. Audiences are able to go behind the scenes and learn about what it was like making this film. They are submerged once again into the Hollywood lifestyle and are able to see how the cast and crew came back together without missing a beat.

The behind the scene features include an extended interview with director Doug Ellin, along with actors Jeremy Piven, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon, Kevin Connolly and Jerry Ferrara. Ellin explained that after the series wrapped, everyone wanted to take a break from the show but it was Mark Wahlberg who kept calling and saying that the fans really wanted to be back together with this crew.

The cast and crew also go in depth about how transitioning the show from HBO to the big screen was a challenge and how they wanted to up the stakes with a feature film.

Another surprise that can be found within the blu-ray extras is a look behind the scenes at how the movie within Entourage, Hyde, was made. The production value and effort for this movie was just as intense as the actual production on Entourage. It showcases once again the attention to detail that was put into this production.

Wrapping up the special features includes some deleted scenes and an outtake reel that will leave everyone laughing and wanting a hug from Ari Gold.

In a time when special features seem to decreasing on blu-ray releases, Entourage provides more ways for fans to get involved with the movie and feel like they are a part of this Hollywood crew.

The Entourage blu-ray will be released on September 29, 2015.
