The original story of Rocky Balboa was so good it continues to spawn sequels almost 40 years later. The Academy Award winner for Best Picture and Director came out of nowhere. The film was shot for just over $1 million and ended up the highest grossing film of 1976 with $225 million worldwide. Sylvester Stallone, star and writer, became a household name after the release.
