Nashville police said this afternoon that there was an active shooter situation at a movie theater in Antioch, Tennessee and the suspect is dead.
Police said on Twitter that the suspect had been killed. Authorities confirmed that the man was armed with both a gun and a hatchet. ABC News reports that the man had two bags, but only took one into the theater. He left the other outside and it is currently being searched by police.
According to The Tennessean, the shooting was reported at 1:13 p.m. at the Carmike Hickory 8 theater in the community.
It’s still not clear at the moment if anyone else was hurt during the shooting. However, police increased security at another area movie theater and even blocked traffic.
This shooting comes two weeks after a shooting at a Lafayette, Louisiana theater that left two dead and nine injured. In that case, the gunman, John Russell Houser, was also killed.
