'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' to get reboot produced by Will Smith

The television world is about to get ‘flipped-turned upside down,’ as there are reports of the 1990’s sitcom, ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ getting a reboot.

According to TV Line, Will Smith, whose career was launched by the show, has signed on to produce the revival. Multiple sources have said that Smith’s production company Overbrook Entertainment is currently in the very early stages of developing a present-day version of the show while keeping the original spirit of ‘The Fresh Prince.’

Overlook will begin pitching the series in the upcoming weeks, led by Smith and his producing partners James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett and Jada Pinkett-Smith.

This project came as news to NBC president Robert Greenblatt, according to Mashable, when reporters brought it up Thursday at the Television Critics Association press tour. “It’s something I’d be happy to talk to Will about, sure,” said Greenblatt.

‘The Fresh Prince’ ran for six seasons on NBC and ended in 1996. However it is unclear whether or not the show will be a reboot or a revival along the lines of Netflix’s Fuller House.
