The 10 worst video game movies of all time

The action-thriller based on the hugely popular Hitman video game series, Hitman: Agent 47, is being released in theaters on Friday. This is the second time the series will be translated to the big screen. The 2007 effort, simply titled Hitman was a bust. Those involved in the new film hope they can change the trend.

Video game movies have been historically terrible. There are of course a number of reasons for this.

No well respected actor or director is going to want to do a film based on a video game. There is a stigma associated with the concept that will probably never go away.

There is a tendency to overthink the plot. Much like with poor comic book movies, the screenwriters clearly show that they had a tough time deciding where they wanted to go. Do they want to be loyal to the source material, or do their own thing?

With that question in mind, we decided to take a look at the worst video game movies of all time.
