Straight Outta Compton made over $60 million at the box office opening weekend but not everyone is pleased with how the bio-pic turned out. Suge Knight's lawyer is speaking out about his clients portrayal in the film.
Thomas Mesereau, lawyer of Knight, spoke to The Wrap and said that because Knight is currently incarcerated he hasn't seen the film. "I’m sure he wouldn’t like it because a lot of it is exaggerated and silly and ridiculous."
In Compton the relationship between Dr. Dre and Knight is explored. Knight can be seen acting irrationally, having violent outbursts and often fighting with Dre.
Mesereau went on to say that the film and the media doesn't realize all of the good things that Knight did for people during his career. "A lot of the media does not realize how many good things he did for people, particularly in his community. He financed athletic facilities in schools, he gave money to the homeless, money to people in need. He tried to arrange truces on the streets so people weren’t killed," said Mesereau. "He funded funerals for families who were devastated by violence. He used to give a dinner every year for single moms in Compton to recognize their courage and their achievement. He’s a good person, and this will come out in due time."
Knight has been in jail since late January. He was arrested for his alleged role in a hit-and-run accident. If found guilty on murder chargers, Knight could be facing life in prison.
