One Direction go into space in new 'Drag Me Down' video

One Direction go up and away, both on the charts and in the new music video for “Drag Me Down.” The track, the first off their upcoming fifth album, finally got a music video late last night.

One Direction’s official Twitter account broke the news, and fans were taken to their official VEVO page to watch the video.

Just like the single quickly getting to No. 1 on the iTunes chart, the video received a bunch of views last night. According to the Telegraph, it had 500,000 in a three-hour period; this morning, the figure jumped up to 880,068.

The video takes the song’s title literally. Directed by Ben and Gabe Turner and produced by Fulwell 73, “Drag Me Down” was shot at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston and features a bunch of equipment that the four-piece messes around with: T-38 jets, the International Space Station replica, the Space Exploration Vehicle rover and the Partial Gravity simulator.

Aside from being off their next album, “Drag Me Down” dropped on July 31, right around the time former bandmate Zayn Malik had been signed to a new label to start his solo career.
