Was Walter White’s final act of revenge plausible?
If you haven’t watched the series finale of Breaking Bad, and don’t want it to be spoiled, we suggest you stop reading now.
The MythBusters put Mr. White’s (Bryan Cranston) big blow out scene to the test, with the help of series creator Vince Gilligan. Remember that scene: Walt stores a rotating M60 machine gun in the trunk of his car, activates it, and plunges to the ground as the weapon takes out his enemies.
According to Deadline Hollywood MythBusters Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman used the same materials-- box end wrenches, a garage door opener, a chair swivel, and the same model car-- as Heisenberg, to test the authenticity of his big showdown.
Before the MythBusters began their test, they showed Gilligan their set up: the gun in the trunk, the wall, the wooden soon-to-be victims. The Breaking Bad creator gave his stamp of approval and the shootout began.
Vulture pointed out that MythBusters has taken on Breaking Bad in the past. Both times proving the show’s antics to be unrealistic. This time, Gilligan’s writing proved to be credible. Walt could have taken down his enemies and survived. You’ve got this one Mr. White.
