One of the best parts of sitting down to watch a show you love is that infectious little tune that is played toward the beginning of each and every episode. Sometimes the song has words to sing along, other times it’s just a melody that you can hum, but regardless it is in your head for hours after you hear it.
Reverb released a video of one of their staffers, “local riff-master Joe,” playing 100 classic TV theme songs. The video begins in the year 1930 with the Looney Tunes theme and goes through 2011 with the Game of Thrones theme before looping back to Looney Tunes.
“We’re always looking back at history of popular music to find inspiring sounds and melodies. In many cases, the most well-known and recognizable tunes come from a different medium altogether: TV. From nostalgia-rich classics played by the likes of Howard Roberts, to the contemporary favorites you skip over as you binge watch on Netflix, there’s no lack of infectious hooks to find in the annals of television,” Reverb posted on their blog.
The video flies by. It includes themes from I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeanie, Cheers, Friends, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, and many, many more. If you have a few minutes it is worth your time. As long as you don’t mind singing The Brady Bunch theme for the next three hours...
