Bill Cosby ordered to give sworn deposition in sex abuse case

Actor and comedian Bill Cosby has been ordered by the Los Angeles Superior Court to give a sworn deposition in a sex abuse lawsuit.

The lawsuit, according to FOX News, was brought on by a woman who accuses Cosby of sexually molesting her during a 1974 Playboy Mansion party. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Craig Karlan ordered Cosby to submit to questioning by the woman, Judy Huth’s, lawyer on Oct. 9. Huth will then give her own deposition on Oct. 15.

Gloria Allred, Huth’s attorney, will likely depose Cosby in his home state of Massachusetts, according to Reuters.

Last month, the California Supreme Court denied a request to have Huth’s lawsuit revisited after Cosby’s legal team claimed that errors meant that the lawsuit should have been dismissed.

Huth, who is one of 40 women who has accused Cosby of sexual assault or abuse, says she and a friend met Cosby while he was filming a movie in California and claims that he invited them to his tennis club before going to a party at the Playboy Mansion. There, she says Cosby put his hand down her pants and forced Huth, who was then 15-years-old, to perform a sexual act on him.

Cosby has never been criminally charged and denies these allegations.
