America has a new, Amy Schumer-approved 'Bachelor'

We have a new Bachelor. I repeat WE HAVE A NEW BACHELOR.

Ben Higgins is ABC and America’s new Bachelor.

At the end of each Bachelor or Bachelorette season the Internet goes into frenzy. Hypothesizing, analyzing, dissecting: who will provide us months of water cooler talk and a boost in our self-esteem (after realizing that we have never spent hours crying, whining, and obsessing over someone we’ve only known for a few days). After Bachelorette Kaitlyn Bristowe chose Shawn B. as her one and only, Bachelor Nation started asking which of Bristowe’s castoffs, Nick Viall or Ben “H.” Higgins, will be handing out roses next season?

During Monday’s After Paradise episode, a show that allows Bachelor fans and stars alike to discuss whatever drama transpired during spinoff show Bachelor in Paradise, host Chris Harrison promised fans the new Bachelor would be announced. Enter Nick. Harrison chatted with Bachelorette Kaitlyn’s runner-up, “caught up” with him, expressed his excitement for Nick’s “new journey” and then dismissed Viall. Enter Ben H., the new Bachelor,

After an excited applause from the audience, Ben H. got a special phone call from a fan, Amy Schumer. Schumer discussed Bachelor in Paradise’s Joe and congratulated Higgins on his new title. She (jokingly) advised him not to become the The Bachelor.

Schumer tweeted a photo of herself talking on the phone to the After Paradise crew.

Although the track record for couples of Bachelor past isn’t as successful as the world would like, here’s to hoping Ben H. finds (and sticks with) The One.
