6. U.S. wins World Cup
The United States women’s soccer team had a sensational tournament in the 2015 Women’s World Cup. The Americans won all seven of their games, five of which were shutouts. They held opponents scoreless for nearly 540 consecutive minutes. Carli Lloyd lit up the scoreboard with a hat trick in the first 16 minutes of the title match against Japan to lead the U.S. to a 5-2 victory.
