Tom Selleck sued for water theft

Tom Selleck is treading in murky water following recent allegations.

The star, 70, and his wife, Jilli, have been accused of stealing water, by the Calleguas Municipal Water District. According to the Los Angeles Times, Selleck has filled trucks with water from a hydrant in the district and had them delivered to his house on at least 12 occasions since 2013.

Selleck received a cease-and-desist letter from the Ventura County district in November 2013. The actor’s residence lies in the Hidden Valley Municipal Water District. Page Six reported that the Blue Bloods star used the hydrant as recently as March 2015.
Not only is Selleck asked to pay the nearly $22,000 incurred by the district for hiring a private investigator, the suit also asks for an injunction banning the actor from using the district’s water in the future.

Selleck and his wife have been in their current home for almost 30 years. The couple has an avocado farm on their property. California is currently in a drought and has placed restrictions on water usage, cutting down on water use by 25%.
