New York Magazine’s Bill Cosby story down thanks to hacker (Report)

Overnight, New York Magazine unveiled the cover for its latest issue, featuring 35 women who have accused comedian Bill Cosby of sexually assaulting them. However, anyone trying to read the story this morning is still unable to do so, allegedly thanks to a hacker.

At 2:32 a.m., the magazine tweeted that it was “experiencing technical difficulties” and working on a fix.

It turns out that this may be the work of a hacker. Two minutes after the magazine’s message, a Twitter user named Vikingdom2016 tweeted “@NYMag will be down for 5 hours. :D.” According to The Daily Dot, the hacker is also known as ThreatKing, who told the site over a Skype chat that he has nothing against the 35 women on the cover. He’s doing it simply because he hates New York City and the magazine named after it.

“I went to new York 2 months ago. It was really bad,” ThreatKing told the Daily Dot. “Someone pranked me. Everyone started laughing and s**t. The first 10 hours being there. Some African-American tried to prank me with a fake hand gun.”

Back on Twitter, Vikingdom2016 is responding to people wondering why NYMag.com is down. In his latest message, he wrote, “NYmag.com site data might be corrupted since we sent massive XML attack on their servers.”

In the Daily Dot interview, the hacker claimed that NYMag.com would be down for 14 hours.

NYMag has posted videos from its interviews with the women on Instagram.
