Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are adapting Batman: The Killing Joke into an animated film, and one of the greatest actors to ever play the Joker has reportedly joined the cast.
When a fan on Twitter recently expressed hope that Mark Hamill will play the Joker in The Killing Joke, Hamill responded by saying "You're not the only one w/ fingers crossed!"

Collider is now reporting that not only is Hamill definitely going to play the Joker in the film, but he has actually already completed all his voice acting.
Since the Collider report, Hamill was asked to clarify over Twitter if he really will be returning, and he responded by saying, "My fingers are still crossed!" That certainly sounds like he hasn't been officially cast and he's just hoping he will be, but could Hamill just be messing with us? Probably.
The Killing Joke is one of the most iconic Batman comics of all time, originally published in 1988. It tells the origin story of the Joker, revealing him as a failed comic who becomes disfigured and is gradually driven insane. The comic had a direct influence on Christopher Nolan's depiction of the Joker in The Dark Knight, but the book has never been directly adapted into a film before now.
Mark Hamill voiced the Joker on Batman: The Animated Series, and he later returned to the role in the Batman: Arkham series of video games.
The Killing Joke will be released direct-to-video next year.
