Conan O’Brien sued for allegedly copying joke, but Andy Richter has perfect response

Conan O’Brien, TBS and his team of writers have been targeted by a San Diego man for allegedly stealing his Twitter jokes for a monologue in January. Andy Richter, O’Brien’s sidekick, isn’t taking the suit too seriously though and had some Twitter jokes of his own about it.

On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Robert Kaseberg filed a lawsuit in California federal court on July 22, claiming that the Conan team violated copyright by stealing his jokes about a Delta flight, Tom Brady, Caitlyn Jenner and the Washington Monument.

“A Delta flight this week took off from Cleveland to New York with just two passengers. And they fought over control of the armrest the entire flight,” Kesberg claims he tweeted on Jan. 14. That same day, O’brien delivered a very similar joke on his show.

“We at Conaco firmly believe there is no merit to this lawsuit,” the producers of Conan told THR.

As EW points out, Richter had his own response, which was much funnier than his boss’ response. “Oh no we’ve been found out,” Richter wrote on Twitter in all caps.

The lawsuit came to light on the same day that sites started noticing that Twitter has begun deleting plagiarized joke tweets. Anyone can alert Twitter to copyright infringement with this form.
