ABC Family announced yesterday that they ordered a second season of Stitchers, the network's first procedural drama.
Stitchers airs on Tuesdays at 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM ET/PT, and according to TV Series Finale, is the number one scripted show on cable for the Adult and Women 18 - 34 demographics during that time slot. Executive Vice President of Programming and Development for ABC Family, Karey Burke, explained that "Fans are enjoying the camaraderie of the Stitchers team and a lead character that is unapologetically smart, focused and a great role model to young women." Burke also said, "We look forward to seeing more of the Stitchers team tackling diverse cases as they unravel the mystery behind the program's creation."
Produced by Jeffrey Alan Schechter, Jonathan Baruch, and Rob Wolken, Stitchers stars Emma Ishta as Kirsten Clark, an insanely bright CalTech student; Allison Scagliotti as Camille Engelson, Kirsten's colleague and roommate; Salli Richardson-Whitfield as Maggie Baptiste, a director of the Stitchers program; Kyle Harris as Cameron Goodkin, one of the scientists running the program and Kirsten's potential love interest; and Ritesh Rajan as Linus Ahluwalia, Cameron's colleague and best friend.
The show follows the adventures of Kirsten Clark as she is recruited into the Stitchers program, a secret government program that connects the consciousness of one person into the residual memories of another who is recently deceased. The process is called “stitching” and is used to solve crimes. In order to be stitched into a person's memories, Kirsten wears a special suit, and reclines in a tank of water ideal for neurotransmitting. She then enters the other person's remaining consciousness in a dream-like state. It is a very interesting concept, and one that must be seen to be best understood.
Throughout the show Kirsten has many problems that she begins facing and working through as a result of her involvement in the program; a program that was partially created by her estranged parents, and the man who raised her. The series has aired seven episodes so far, with the season finale scheduled for August 4, 2015. For more information, check out our recaps of each episode:
