Top 25 wedding cakes for nerds and geeks

Are you a nerd, or a geek? In The Big Bang Theory terms, are you more like Leonard, or more like Raj? No matter, if you're getting married, you should be able to express your nerdom or geekdom freely.

Well, it's obvious whether you've watched the show or not, that these characters love sci-fi. Have you ever considered having a Star Trek wedding cake? I'm sure that would be a dream come true for Leonard!

Of course, Star Trek is not for everyone. There are plenty of other sci-fi shows on TV these days, as well as shows that fall into the fantasy category, like Game of Thrones. Some people prefer cartoons, while others prefer comics, and still others would rather spend their time gaming.

If these things be your pleasure, then express it along with your love and commitment by having a wedding cake to remember! TheCelebrityCafe.com has compiled a list of 25 nerdy/geeky wedding cakes to give you some ideas.

This list does not exclude motion pictures, and while not exhaustive, does cover most of the more well-known topics, and is grouped by theme.

Adventure Time

For those who love a good fantasy-based cartoon, here's an Adventure Time cake for you. This cake includes all the key characters. Finn stands hand in hand with the Flame Princess on top, while Jake plays the violin below. Marceline, Beemo, the Ice King, Lady Rainicorn, and Tree Trunks can also be seen.

Hunger Games

On a slightly different note, Hunger Games has garnered quite a following in the sci-fi/fantasy/thriller community. This cake prominently features the mocking-jay pin that Katniss wore; the symbol for the rebellion she inspired.

Super heroes

We know there are a plethora of super heroes with which to be enamored, but we couldn't possibly include them all.

19. Spiderman, Batman, Green Lantern, and Super Man combo

18. Half Batman and half traditional

I suppose this makes for a good "his and hers" compromise.

Fantasy-based

Two notable fantasy worlds can be found in Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. The first cake here is another example of a "his and hers" cake.

17. Game of Thrones meets Lord of the Rings

16. Another Game of Thrones

Harry Potter

What sci-fi/fantasy list would be complete without Harry Potter? None. The first two cakes focus on the central setting of the stories, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The third presents Potter and Hermione as a couple. Before you get too flustered, even J.K. Rowling admitted that they should have ended up together.

15. Hogwarts

This Hogwarts themed cake pays tribute to all the houses in a color-coded shield.

14. Gryffindor

This elegantly decorated cake includes broom flying, the Gryffindor crest, and even has a Golden Snitch!

13. Here be a dragon

Atop this cake stands mini Kokeshi Harry Potter and Hermione dolls with a white dragon, presumably the Ukrainian Ironbelly at Gringotts, wrapped around the cake leading up to them.

Star Trek

If you want your wedding to go where no wedding has gone before (well actually, where several weddings have gone before, but you can tweak it to make it your own), then you need a Star Trek cake. Whether you want to take your guests for a ride on the Enterprise, entertain them with Klingon traditions, or remind them how futile resistance can be, there is a cake for you.

12. The Enterprise

11. Klingon

10. The Borg cube

Star Wars

These cake ideas were not conceived long ago, but their inspiration is "from a galaxy far, far away!" There are many choices for both the light and the dark side, from the Millennium Falcon to the Death Star and everything between. There are even cakes that resemble various Star Wars settings, such as the Ewok village on Endor, or the ice cave on Hoth.

9. The Death Star

8. Lego-style Millennium Falcon

7. AT-ATs

We haven't included other cakes whose sole sci-fi attribution is just in the topper, but this was too unique to pass up.

6. Jedi symbols

This more traditional looking cake includes both the symbol for the Jedi and the Jedi Academy. On top are Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca figurines.

7. Jabba the Hutt

This cake, as disturbing as it may be, had to be included. Pay close attention, and you'll notice the little Princess Leia and the carbonite Han Solo at the bottom.

Doctor Who

In addition to Star Trek and Star Wars, some of the most elaborate cakes are based on the sci-fi series Doctor Who. Of course, these weddings include the TARDIS in one fashion or another, but often in the form of the wedding cake. However, some have chosen to focus on its interior, or have disregarded it altogether in favor of a more sinister concentration: Daleks.

3. The TARDIS

2. The TARDIS console

1. A hand to hold

In a cute switching of the roles, the bride drags The Doctor into the TARDIS, which is sitting above three tiers of space. It evokes memories of one of The Doctor's best lines, "There’s a lot of things you need to get across this universe. Warp drive… wormhole refractors… You know the thing you need most of all? You need a hand to hold.”
